How to become a registered Surveyor in Nigeria
Here are steps to becoming a registered surveyor in Nigeria
1. Ensure you have the O'level requirement to study the course in either polytechnic or University accredited to offer the program
2. Apply for joint admission and matriculation board(JAMB) examination and select the required subjects. The required subjects are use of English, mathematics, physics and geography
3. In case you are offered admission into university, get your first degree and go for National youth service corps(NYSC)
4. After the successful completion of your NYSC apply for two years pupilage program with SURCON(surveyor council of Nigeria) under a registered surveyor
5. Ensure you attends Nigeria institution of surveyors (NIS) meetings in your area of residence
6. Apply for SURCON examination and submit your project for defense
7. After the successful completion of the examinations and defense you are hereby acknowledged as a registered surveyor.
8. In case you are admitted for OND(Ordinary national diploma) obtain your OND certificate and go for one year Industrial training after the training, apply for Higher national diploma (HND)
9.Go for NYSC
10. Apply for PGDE program in any university offering surveying and geoinformatics or professional diploma in surveying and geoinformatics
11. Apply for pupilage under surveyor council of Nigeria (SURCON) For two years compulsory training supervised by a registered surveyor
13. Apply for SURCON examinations and submit your port folio for defense
